Founded by Lorna Dinning (now Moran) the business was established as Geordie Job Finders in 1976 with Newcastle city centre offices. Shortly after opening, the first ever temporary contract with Bristol Myers was won.

NRG won the contract to recruit 100 members of staff for London Electricity in 1997. Such was their confidence to deliver such numbers that it was written into the contract that unless all 100 jobs were filled, London Electricity would not be charged.
